We are proud to announce that last year, we achieved carbon-neutral status for the first time. This significant milestone was reached through our efforts to monitor and improve our operational outputs and processes, complemented by our strategic investment in carbon offset credits. Building on this foundation, we have successfully renewed our carbon-neutral certification through June 2025, reaffirming our commitment to lead by example in environmental stewardship.

What is Carbon Neutral Certification?

The processes involved in maintaining carbon neutrality include an assessment of our carbon emissions across all operational aspects. This gives us a total emissions figure and enables us to identify key areas for improvement such as energy efficiency, waste minimisation, and responsible sourcing practices. Using the total emissions figure, we have once again offset our carbon output through investing in the Climate Fund Portfolio of verified carbon offsetting projects around the world.

The projects we supported.

These carbon offsetting projects mainly consist of the construction of wind and solar farms in a variety of LEDCs all across the world. These community-based projects are not only vital to increasing the proportion of energy in the grid which is sustainably-sourced, but they contribute to improving the local economy and welfare by creating jobs, improving infrastructure and supplying energy.

One of these projects is Saltkhit Wind Farm, the first ever grid-connected wind farm in Mongolia. The farm is helping to meet the growing electricity demand in the region, while also increasing technical knowledge and expertise in the construction and safe operation of future renewable developments across the country.

Another one of these carbon offsetting projects provides solar-powered lighting for households across Zambia, who lack access to electricity. By providing a cost-effective and clean lighting solutions for the first time, families and children are able to study, cook, and socialise in the safety of the home. Carbon emissions from homes are significantly reduced by the solar lighting devices as they replace the ineffective and inefficient kerosene lamps and fireplaces.

In addition to maintaining our carbon-neutral status, we remain resolute in our ongoing sustainability efforts. We’re actively exploring opportunities to further reduce emissions and minimise our carbon footprint. This includes embracing eco-friendly technologies, encouraging environmentally-conscious practices among our people, and forming partnerships with organisations that share our environmental values.
