The island’s most festive charity fundraiser returns on Saturday the 6th of December.
We are approaching that time of year again when the Isle of Man gets a whole lot more festive and the Christmas spirit fills the air! Telecommunications provider plan.com and Rebecca House are gearing up to bring back their much-loved motorcade of merriness for 2025, and it’s set to be the biggest and best one yet!
Hundreds of Santas will be riding their decked-out motorbikes across the island, spreading festive cheer and creating an unmissable spectacle. So, mark your calendars, folks! This year’s parade will take place on Saturday, December 6th.
This magical event isn’t just about bringing a smile to faces though, it’s about giving back to the Manx community. Santa’s on a Bike has been raising money for Rebecca House Children’s Hospice since its inception eight years ago, raising £72,000 last year alone, despite the motorcade being called off due to the arrival of Storm Darragh.
This year's route will kick off outside plan.com’s award-winning HQ, No.5 Victoria Street in Douglas, with support from the Isle of Man Constabulary Roads Policing Unit and other local authorities. Riders will set off promptly at 10am, heading south to Castletown, and concluding at Rebecca House around lunchtime, where the celebrations will be in full swing.
Nicola Patterson, event organiser and Chief People Officer at plan.com, said “After the disappointment of having to cancel last year’s Santa’s on a Bike due to Storm Darragh, we’re more determined than ever to make this year’s event truly special.
The support we receive from riders, spectators, donors, sponsors, and the Constabulary means the world to us, and we can’t wait to bring everyone together again to spread festive cheer for a fantastic cause.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve got a contingency in place to Sunday 7th in case of adverse weather on the Saturday – ensuring the magic of the event can still go ahead safely.”
John Knight, Chief Executive of Hospice Isle of Man, added: “Santa’s on a Bike is such an exciting event and is a firm favourite of ours! We look forward to it throughout the year and we’re beyond grateful to the Manx public for their support and to plan.com for choosing Rebecca House to be the event’s chosen charity. It’s one that we always make sure to get the children of Rebecca House involved in, they always have a fantastic day!”
