Discover No.5, the islands newest office space
Having relocated to our new premises in March of last year, we are delighted to report that the transition has been smooth, and the team is already thriving in our fresh new workspace. The long-awaited move has proven to be a pivotal step forward, allowing us to capitalise on the state-of-the-art features that No.5 Victoria Street has to offer. From purchase back in 2016, to three lockdowns and various complications, the team can now call No.5 home after a seven-year process.

“Following several years of hard work and commitment, it’s amazing to see the building open and seeing our people love the space we have created for them. A lot of time was spent understanding the needs of our employees so that a building could be designed specifically with them in mind. Everyone involved, including staff, architects, builders, and engineers, should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved – we can’t thank them enough”
Nicola Patterson, Chief People Officer
DESIGN
With its carefully designed layout and expansive open spaces, our new headquarters fosters a sense of unity and collaboration among our team members. The openness of the layout creates an atmosphere that encourages the sharing of thoughts and ideas. Amphitheatre-style seating on the ground floor allows not only for dynamic group discussions, but also acts as a relaxing space to take a coffee break or to eat lunch.
The building features a deliberate integration of versatile seating areas on every floor to allow our people to get away from their desks. These adaptable spaces cater to the diverse needs of our teams, providing options for focused work, impromptu discussions, or more formal meetings. The building is consciously designed to nurture a sense of ‘home away from home’ with a concept that focuses on productivity, wellbeing, flexibility, and engagement.
High ceilings, natural wood features and floor to ceiling glass with views over Douglas Bay give a relaxed feel and have been designed to promote a stress free and calming headspace throughout the building. We boast an array of facilities that go beyond the essentials, including a bar and a rooftop barbeque, enabling us to host occasional social events for our staff. Such events are testament to our company culture which centres on nurturing relationships and cultivating a people-centric working environment, fostering connections that extend beyond the confines of the workplace.
Going against trend of most large companies relocating their central offices to the outskirts of Douglas, we’ve moved right into the centre where there are plenty of commercial and social facilities to suit our people. We also wanted to incorporate a variety of environmentally friendly features in the construction of the building. For example, better energy efficiency is facilitated through smart lighting and the monitoring of temperature and air quality, plus recycling areas feature on every floor in a central location. At the on-site café area, reusable cups are used for smoothies and coffees and a wide variety of snacks are also on offer in this area.
